Is Blue Lizard reef safe?

MIXED

Sensitive Mineral and Sport Mineral lotions are legal on Maui. So are the two sprays. Palau fails Sport Spray. The reef FAQ on the site is Act 104, not Maui.

MIXED here means one bottle fails Maui or Palau and another does not. A zinc lotion can still show mixed on HEL if the brand never printed nano or non-nano.

Maui / Big Island. Every bottle in this catalog passes Maui / Big Island.

Fragrance-free. 3 oz and 5 oz share this panel. The page does not say non-nano.

What this means

Sensitive Mineral and Sport Mineral lotions list zinc 10% and titanium 8%, so Maui is legal. Palau is fine on those two. There is no phenoxyethanol on either lotion list. The sprays are a different formula: zinc 24% as the only active. Sensitive Spray has no phenoxyethanol, so Palau passes. Sport Spray lists phenoxyethanol, so Palau fails that can. The mix-up is Blue Lizard's own reef FAQ. It defines reef-friendly as Hawaii's statewide ban: no oxybenzone, no octinoxate. That is Act 104. It is not a Maui statement, and it is not a particle-size claim. Sticks are other bottles.

All places

Palau and the US Virgin Islands are in this table too. Maui and the Big Island use the same mineral-only rule.

Stamps are only on bottles we have dated. Maui and the Big Island share the mineral-only test. Palau can still fail a zinc lotion on phenoxyethanol.

FAQ

Is Blue Lizard sunscreen reef safe?

The two lotions and Sensitive Spray are legal on Maui, and Palau is fine on those three panels. Sport Spray is zinc-only, so Maui passes, and Palau fails it on phenoxyethanol. The reef FAQ on the site is Act 104, not a Palau pass.

Is Blue Lizard OK in Hawaii?

These mineral lotions and sprays can be sold and used on Maui and the Big Island. Confirm the tube says Mineral.

Does it pass Palau?

The two lotions and Sensitive Spray do: no phenoxyethanol, no paraben, no Palau-listed UV filter. Sport Spray lists phenoxyethanol.

Is Blue Lizard non-nano?

The Sensitive and Sport lotion pages and the brand FAQ do not say nano or non-nano. We do not guess particle size.

Is Blue Lizard spray reef safe?

Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray and Sport Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray are in the table. If yours is a different spray, paste the actives into the checker.

What about the Blue Lizard stick?

We have not read a Blue Lizard stick panel. Check whether the actives are zinc or chemical.

Dates on the Drug Facts sheets are the day we read the panel. Pack shots and brand marks are the brand's, DailyMed's, or a credited press lockup. How we check
