Is Coola reef safe?

MIXED

Classic Clear Spray and Classic Face fail Maui. Pack the zinc spray. Organic is not mineral.

MIXED here means one bottle fails Maui or Palau and another does not. A zinc lotion can still show mixed on HEL if the brand never printed nano or non-nano.

Maui / Big Island. Pass: Zinc Oxide Sunscreen Spray SPF 30. Fail: Classic Clear Sunscreen Spray SPF 30; Classic Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50.

coola.com Zinc Oxide Spray SPF 30 Drug Facts, dated 16 Aug 2026

Non-aerosol mineral spray. Maui and Palau pass on this panel. Classic Clear Spray is the other formula.

What this means

Organic is not mineral. Classic Clear Spray and Classic Face Lotion fail Maui. The brand never uses oxybenzone or octinoxate, which is Act 104, not the Maui rule. Pack the zinc spray if the Drug Facts still say zinc oxide 14.5% as the only active. Coola prints non-nano. Palau is fine on that spray. Liplux and Classic Face Mist are other bottles. Confirm the tube says Zinc Oxide, not Classic.

All places

Palau and the US Virgin Islands are in this table too. Maui and the Big Island use the same mineral-only rule.

Stamps are only on bottles we have dated. Maui and the Big Island share the mineral-only test. Palau can still fail a zinc lotion on phenoxyethanol.
